Introduction
The marina at Sampson State Park in Romulus, NY has had problems
with waves entering it and pushing docked boats into the docks. There has also been
an accumulation of driftwood, seaweed and other plant life in the northeast corner of the
marina. To tackle these problems, a scale model was built and placed in a wave tank so that
a particle image velocimitry (PIV) analysis could be done to ascertain a proper solution to
one or both problems.
